Freedom Day Vacation 2009

B* and I have been on the road a long time to get where we are, and we're considering making a permanent shift in this direction. It's funny because Ashland, Oregon was planned as a stop on the way to our vacation destination, and for what it's worth it was reasonably unplanned. We didn't know where we'd sleep once we got here, we didn't know how long we'd be here or what we'd do except I was determined to take a walk around Lithia Park (where these pictures and many others were taken) and we weren't planning on staying in a hotel at all while we were here. It's a little touristy like Park City, but just doesn't feel quite as capitalist. We actually have some friends out here that we met in Alaska. Sarah who worked with B* and David who I worked with in the kitchen at Glacier Bay moved back out here afterwards. I guess they'd lived here before we met them in Alaska, and we went out and saw their place today, and the view is gorgeous! I've really enjoyed the first few days of our trip. I'm excited for the next couple days. We may spend a little more time around here, see the Dagoba chocolate factory and sample their wares, but then it's on down to the redwood forests in northern california.
